ABOUT STABLE
COTTAGE
300 year old stable block fully renovated to high modern standards. Quiet village location, beautiful countryside and near to the River Trent. Close to Lincoln and Newark, perfect for visiting the International Antiques Fairs or Robin Hood Country.
Stable Cottage was originally a block of 3 stables. It has been sympathetically renovated into a self contained 2 bedroom cottage which is spacious and light. The Cottage is part of our Grade 2 listed building and by being renovated, has been brought to life again. It will comfortably sleep 4 people in the 2 bedrooms (2 double beds). It may be possible for a single camp bed to be used in the larger of the bedrooms to sleep an additional person / child if required. We hope you will love it as much as we do.
We have a small but very friendly dog (please keep the gate closed as he loves to run off whenever the opportunity arises!), a snooty cat and some rescue chickens! They would all love to meet you! If you are not keen on animals please let us know and we will keep them out of your way. We would be happy for you to bring a well behaved and child friendly dog with you but only by prior arrangement.
Strictly NO SMOKING in the cottage.
We would prefer guests to take their shoes off when inside.

GETTING AROUND
There is a limited bus service to other local villages from the local bus stop which is only half a minute walk! The nearest train stations are Retford, Newark and Lincoln. There is a shared drive for Stable Cottage and our home and off road parking is available for guests.
KITCHEN/DINING
The kitchen / dining area has a dishwasher and washing machine as well as a cooker, hob and extractor, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge freezer. There is a small dining table which folds out with 2 chairs plus a vintage Church pew for seating when dining. There is a TV with built in DVD player in the lounge area and a selection of books and games can be found in the cupboard beneath the TV.
We also have a large selection of our own DVDs which we are happy to lend you to watch during your stay. There is also a private 'secret garden' next to Stable Cottage which has a vintage cast iron table and 4 chairs for your private use during your stay. The 'secret garden' is perfect for sitting in during a sunny evening with a glass of wine! If you are lucky, our rescue hens may lay a few eggs for your breakfast and may be seen wandering around in our separate garden.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
We love living in a quiet Village location. There is a small friendly pub which serves homemade food and brews its own beer on the premises which is only a 2 minute walk away. The River Trent is also only a mile or so along the road on which we live. There is also a small convenience store, petrol pump and Pub as well as Sundown Adventureland in Rampton which is the village next to Laneham and only a 5 minute drive away.
We are close to Lincoln, Newark and Retford and are only a short drive from the A1. Ideally situated for the Newark Antiques Fairs, Newark Castle, Lincoln Antiques Fairs, Lincoln Castle, Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Christmas Market, Clumber Park and Osberton Horse Trials to name but a few! Creswell Crags, Doncaster Racecourse, Southwell Racecourse and Major Oak in Sherwood Forest are a little further away but also within a reasonable travelling distance.
